Laser hair removal is the most effective way we know to reduce dark, unwanted hair for the long term. These are the benefits, the limits, and how to get the best results.
The benefits
- Long-term reduction. After a course, most clients have much less hair in the treated area and need only occasional top-ups.
- Precision. The laser targets pigment in the hair and leaves the surrounding skin largely unaffected when settings are right.
- Speed. An upper lip takes about 15 minutes; a full leg session about 45.
- Fewer ingrown hairs. Less hair means less to grow back into the skin.
- No growing out. You shave between sessions, so you are never stuck with stubble before an appointment.
The limits
- It needs a course: usually 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 8 weeks apart.
- It needs pigment: grey, white, red and very fine blonde hair do not respond well.
- Hormonal hair, for example with PCOS, often needs more sessions and maintenance.
- Results vary from person to person.
How to prepare
- Shave the day before your session.
- Stop waxing, plucking, threading and epilating 4 to 6 weeks before your first session and for the whole course.
- Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and fake tan for 2 weeks before each session.
- Tell us about any medication, especially anything that makes skin sensitive to light.
What a session feels like
You and Irina wear protective eyewear. She moves the handpiece over the area while its cooling tip keeps the skin cool; most people feel warmth and a quick snap. Afterwards the skin can look a little pink, like mild sunburn, for a few hours.
Aftercare
- Skip saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and hard workouts for 24 to 48 hours.
- Use SPF 30 or higher on treated areas exposed to the sun.
- Treated hairs shed over 1 to 3 weeks. That is normal, not regrowth.
Every course with us starts with a free consultation and patch test. Book yours or see prices.
